Background:
When I was a child, a beautiful sunset was one of the greatest delights of nature. The colours in this fibre initially reminded me of northern lights, with the bold sweeps of magenta. But the blues pushed it more towards sunset than aurora. So: northern sunset. Orkney’s Ring of Brodgar, a neolithic stone circle, is an iconic northern landmark. It is a place I would dearly love to visit one day, so this yarn was named in its honour.
Story:
Among the ancients. I bet they stood here, right where I am and gazed in wonder at the magenta sky.
Did it fill them with joy, as it does for me? Did they read another meaning in?
I can’t know these people, separated by so many layers of time. But I can touch what their hands touched.
And be awed.
